When Art strives for originality and loses sight of truth

"He must know that when man shuts himself out from the vitalizing and purifying touch of the infinite, and falls back upon himself for his sustenance and his healing...

...then he goads himself into madness, tears himself into shreds, and eats his own substance.......Then it is, that in our self expression, we try to startle and not to attract, in art we strive for originality and loose sight of truth, which is old and yet ever new."

- Rabindranath Tagore
Sadhana, the Realisation of Life

This source of inspiration and occasional lack thereof I recognise within my own creative experiences. Perhaps it explains why some contemporary art is more concerned with pushing the boundaries than creating something beautiful and authentic that enriches our lives?!

Watch this incredibly rendered video through space and time to get some scale of our known universe. Blows my mind! How can our individual worlds seem so small sometimes when this, which we have mapped and measured, exists...?
