Acrylic painting on canvas, 300 x 300mm, 2015
Kea are a bold and cheeky endemic New Zealand parrot often encountered in the South Island's alpine environments. They are rated as one of the most intelligent birds in the world and although they are seen in reasonable numbers by people, the population is estimated to be below 5,000 birds, therefore the kea remains a protected species.
